Artist Statement
My work traces the interior landscapes of reclamation—the thresholds where we choose to move beyond diminishment and into visibility, expression, and power.
Drawing from the tropical landscape and wildlife of Panama, I use the natural world as a language for psychological transformation. Jaguars embody reclaimed power; birds suggest voice and liberation; butterflies mark release and transformation; trees, rivers, and shifting landscapes reflect the ways growth can be rooted, disrupted, and renewed.
Through layered figures, animals, and landscape, I explore the tension between concealment and presence, suppression and expression, fear and expansion. These are not simply images of nature, but reflections of the inner terrain we navigate when we stop making ourselves smaller.
At the center of my work is the quiet courage of reclamation: the decision to take up space, recover one’s voice, and move toward a fuller expression of self.
